Cheetahs are born without the killing instinct. They can be also quite sociable animals, as I experienced myself sixteen years ago when traveling Africa. A cheetah with two cubs (a lonely mother, typically for the species) got accustomed to use my car as an observation point, and often left her children under my supervision when she was out for hunting. One day I witnessed the cubs learning their first lesson of killing. It was the last moment in their life when they were still unsure what to do with the pray... The photo won for me my first ever award at World Press Photo in 1999.
